Higher education abroad

The education system of foreign countries is very different from the familiar Ukrainian one, so those who want to study abroad will have to face some difficulties and some discomfort at the beginning of their studies. In some countries universities have the right to establish their own rules of admission.

The most important thing is to have a high level of proficiency in the language of instruction and to confirm this level with an internationally certified exam. Due to the differences in our education systems, in many countries our 11-year school program is considered insufficient - so additional training is required. If you want to choose quality higher education abroad for your child, it is worthwhile to find out more about the details of enrollment and study in each specific country.

The world system of higher education assumes a step-by-step acquisition of qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (3 - 3.5 years) This basic higher education (e.g., Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science) is usually considered as a basic qualification + we can take one more year which will be a bridge to post-degree education - towards a future Master's degree.
  • Post-diploma education (1 -2 years) - i.e. Specialist is a diploma of professional qualification in a specialty.
  • The Master's program (2 - 2.5 years) is based on research, a thesis project, or a combination of the two.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Doctoral studies are usually based on the research and defense of a thesis in a particular discipline - the difference is that PhD - does not give a precise characterization as we have - Doctor of Economic Sciences, etc., although there are still options Doctor of Medicine (MD).
